Moscow Region Pensioner Sentenced to Suspended Term for Illegal Mining
A court in the Moscow region has sentenced a 68-year-old pensioner found guilty of organizing illegal cryptocurrency mining. The man received a two-year suspended sentence.
Additionally, the convicted man is required to compensate the energy supply company for damages exceeding 4.1 million rubles. The court also ordered the confiscation of all seized mining equipment for state ownership.
This precedent demonstrates stricter control over electricity usage for digital asset mining. Such cases are becoming increasingly common amid the growing popularity of cryptocurrencies.
