OpenAI Unveils AI Assistant Dots and New GPT-6.1 Sol Model

At the DevDay 2026 conference, OpenAI unveiled a new product — Dots, a system of always-on AI assistants. The solution is powered by the flagship GPT-6 Astra model.

Interaction with a Dot takes place in a messenger format: the agent proactively messages the user, sends reports, and asks clarifying questions to complete tasks.

Support for voice calls via ChatGPT, as well as integration with Microsoft Teams and Slack, allows for effective use of the assistant in workflows.

The agent has its own cloud computer with a browser and access to over 4,000 applications. Over time, the system learns user preferences to personalize responses.

Currently, one Dot per person is available. In the future, plans include launching multiple agents simultaneously and supporting communication via standard SMS.

OpenAI also launched the ChatGPT Pro subscription at $500 per month, offering maximum limits and Ultrafast mode for accelerated responses from the GPT-6 Astra model in Work and Codex.

The $200 per month tier has been reintroduced but with new, more restrictive usage limits.

Alongside this, the GPT-6.1 Sol model was introduced, arriving just a week after the GPT-6 Sol version. The new architecture nearly matches the quality of the flagship Astra while being five times cheaper.

ChatGPT's weekly active users have reached 1.2 billion, marking significant growth compared to the 1 billion figure recorded in July of this year.
