NEAR Intents Suspended Operations After Security Incident

NEAR Intents Suspends Operations Following Security Incident

NEAR Intents suspended operations following the discovery of a vulnerability in its smart contract. The incident resulted in financial losses, but developers have guaranteed full compensation for users' funds.

Circumstances of the Incident and Damage Assessment

The glitch was caused by an error in the interaction between Omni's deposit and withdrawal infrastructure and the NEAR Intents smart contract. Preliminary damage estimates stand at approximately $3.8 million. The vulnerability on the contract side has already been patched.

The company committed to fully compensating users for their lost funds. Law enforcement agencies have been notified of the incident. The team is collaborating with blockchain security and analytics firms to track and recover the assets.

Service Restoration and Network Availability

NEAR Intents and near.com are expected to resume normal operations within about an hour. However, deposits and withdrawals in several networks will remain unavailable for another 12 hours while Omni's infrastructure fixes are completed.

The following networks will remain inaccessible:

  • BSC
  • Polygon
  • TON
  • Optimism
  • Avalanche
  • Stellar
  • Monad
  • LayerX
  • Adi
  • Scroll
  • Plasma

Users' assets from these networks held within NEAR Intents can be exchanged for other assets once the service is fully restored. A detailed report on the incident will be published in the coming days.
