NEAR plans to cut issuance and move to fixed token
NEAR Protocol is considering changes to its monetary policy to enhance ecosystem sustainability. Plans are underway to reduce the maximum annual token issuance.
The proposal suggests a phased reduction of inflation from the current 2.5% to a target level of 1.6%. The process will take approximately 24 months and help avoid issuing around 66 million additional tokens over a six-year horizon.
Developers note that this measure aims to optimize the network's economy. In the long term, the team is exploring the possibility of completely halting new token issuance.
