Native Ports of GTA V and GTA IV for Smartphones

Enthusiasts have created native ports of the GTA series games for mobile devices using open-source projects on GitHub. This solution allows running GTA V on iPhone and GTA IV on Android without emulation.

Developer kevinerikjs implemented a port of GTA V for iOS. The game compiles to ARM64 code, and its own Metal-based renderer translates Direct3D 11 commands. This approach allowed bypassing Apple's ban on dynamic code compilation.

Performance depends on the device model:

  • On iPhone 13 Pro Max with minimum settings, it consistently delivers 25–31 fps.
  • On newer chips, 30 or 60 fps modes are available, and on ProMotion displays – up to 120 fps.

The application is built directly from the smartphone via web interface and GitHub Actions. The game features customizable touch controls and gamepad support.

The GTA IV version for Android was developed by user vaduur. The source code for Xbox 360 is statically recompiled into native code for the ARM64 architecture.

The following conditions are required for the port to work:

  • Snapdragon processors with Adreno graphics.
  • Vulkan API support and open-source Mesa Turnip driver.

Technical specifications include 720p resolution at 30 fps. Performance drops to 25 fps may occur in complex scenes. Story missions, radio, cutscenes, and save system all work fully.

Both projects do not contain game files. For installation, users need original data from purchased copies of GTA V and GTA IV.
