New rules for high-speed internet
The Ministry of Digital Development is drafting a bill that will oblige internet service providers to ensure home connection speeds of at least 1 Gbit/s in every apartment. The document is planned to be submitted to the State Duma by the end of this year.
Operators are given a ten-year period to implement the new requirements. The legislative initiative also provides for the possibility of extrajudicial revocation of licenses from unscrupulous providers for violations of established standards.
Introducing strict speed regulations may become a catalyst for the development of fifth-generation (5G) networks across the country.
