Milonov Blames Antidepressants for Rise in Alcoholism and Suicides

Milonov named antidepressants the cause of alcoholism and suicides

State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov made a sharp statement about the impact of antidepressants on the mental and physical health of citizens. The politician urged Russians to stop taking such drugs, linking their use to serious social problems.

Link Between Depression and Alcohol

According to the deputy, the main cause of depression is alcohol abuse. Milonov claims that people influenced by American consumer culture start taking antidepressants unnecessarily.

Consequences of Taking Medication

In his address, the parliamentarian listed a number of negative consequences that, according to him, occur in patients taking these medications. These include:

  1. Risk of developing alcoholism
  2. Development of homosexual tendencies
  3. Increased likelihood of suicide attempts

Alternative Treatment Methods

The deputy proposes an alternative approach to treating depression. He believes that to stop taking drugs like Atarax, it is enough to simply quit smoking and rethink one's lifestyle. This position contradicts widely accepted medical guidelines for mood disorder therapy.
