Mask Regime Implemented in Irkutsk Following Plague Case

A mask regime has been introduced in the Irkutsk region due to a confirmed case of plague. The measure affects employees of an aluminum plant in Shelekhov.

The incident occurred on October 1, when a vial containing the infectious agent was broken. Rospotrebnadzor deemed the situation dangerous and held an unscheduled meeting.

The infected lab technician was placed under quarantine along with all individuals who had contact with her. Authorities in Baikalsk recommended residents avoid traveling to the neighboring city of Shelekhov until the situation stabilizes.

Additional sanitary measures are being implemented within the facility. Wearing masks is mandatory for all workers at the IrkAZ plant.
