Launch of Institutional Stablecoin Open USD (OUSD)
The institutional stablecoin Open USD (OUSD) has been officially launched as part of the Open Standard ecosystem. The consortium includes over 200 companies, including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Coinbase, and BlackRock.
The project's infrastructure relies on reliable partners. Token issuance is handled by Bridge, a company within Stripe, while reserves are held by BlackRock, BNY Mellon, and Lead Bank.
To ensure transparency, partners are required to publish monthly attestations confirming the availability of reserves. This is a standard requirement for institutional digital assets.
Integration and Trading Features
The stablecoin natively operates on Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo networks. At launch, trading availability is provided through Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap.
- Businesses can integrate OUSD via payment systems like Mastercard, Stripe, and the Visa Stablecoin Platform
- Coinbase integration with the ecosystem is scheduled for October 1st
- Token issuance and redemption occur at a 1:1 rate against the US dollar with no fees
Project partners receive rewards based on transaction volume and the level of OUSD usage activity on their platforms.
