Kazakhstan bans unlicensed crypto exchanges

Kazakhstan Bans Unlicensed Crypto Exchanges

The International Financial Center "Astana" court has ruled to ban the operations of unlicensed cryptocurrency exchanges within Kazakhstan. Major international platforms that attempted to provide digital asset services without the regulator's approval were affected by these restrictions.

The ban applies to platforms such as BingX, Coinbase, HTX, BitMart, WEEX, and Bitcoin.com. The court ordered them to cease operations in the country until they obtain the necessary licenses, which is part of a broader strategy to regulate the crypto industry.

Technical Blocking Measures

  • Court decisions will be sent to Google and Apple to restrict access to the apps of banned platforms within the Kazakhstani segment of app stores.
  • Nine additional crypto exchanges have already voluntarily restricted access to their services for users in Kazakhstan while awaiting regulatory clarity.

Despite stricter measures, parts of the market are preparing for legal operation. Seven other cryptocurrency platforms plan to obtain the necessary licenses from the "Astana" IFC to continue providing services legally and adapt to new local legislation requirements.
