Crypto Theft from Trust Wallet Due to iOS 18 Vulnerability
Users of the Trust Wallet cryptocurrency wallet have fallen victim to a large-scale cyberattack, resulting in damages exceeding $5.57 million. The source of the threat was a vulnerability in the iOS 18 mobile operating system.
Attackers are using the DarkSword exploit, which activates when opening an infected page via the Safari browser. Malicious code steals passwords, messages, photos, and secret crypto wallet keys.
One incident involved a user in the Maldives: after accidentally clicking on background ads, $16,428 was stolen from three of their wallets.
To protect against attacks, it is recommended to update iOS to the latest version immediately. Apple regularly releases patches that close such security vulnerabilities.
