Free GPUs in Google AI Pro and Ultra Subscriptions
Google has integrated the Colab cloud service into Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscriptions. Users now receive Compute Credit Unit (CCU) limits to access powerful GPUs.
Computing Resources in Subscriptions
The Google AI Pro subscription, priced at $2 or €2, provides 200 CCUs per month. The Ultra option offers between 1,000 and 2,000 CCUs depending on the plan. The Plus version provides a smaller allocation of resources.
GPU usage costs are calculated in hours based on the current CCU rate. For the A100 GPU, consumption is approximately 5.3–6.8 CCUs per hour.
Calculating Available Usage Time for Pro Subscribers:
- Using an A100 with a consumption rate of ~6.77 CCUs/hour allows for approximately 29–38 hours of computation.
- The 80GB VRAM mode applies a similar resource consumption tariff.
The official Colab CLI client allows connecting to cloud resources from a computer. However, currently only Linux and macOS operating systems are supported. Windows support is not yet available.
A detailed description of the integration is available on the official Google developers' blog.
