Man Sentenced for AI Music Fraud Scheme
An American known as the 'Grifter' earned $8 million (680 million rubles) from AI-generated music played by bots. For years, he artificially inflated streams of his tracks and collected royalties from Spotify and other streaming platforms.
To achieve this, he used neural networks to generate hundreds of thousands of songs and deployed up to 10,000 bots that streamed them around the clock.
Court Ruling and Consequences
The scheme unraveled: the man was caught and sentenced to 18 months in prison. Additionally, his illicit earnings have been confiscated.
