Former FTX Director Criticizes Netflix Series for Distorting History

Former FTX director Constance Wang harshly criticized Netflix's new series "The Altruists," which is dedicated to the history of the exchange's collapse and the figures of Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison. She called the released trailer a distortion of reality, turning tragedy into a romanticized drama.

The former executive's complaints primarily concern the depiction of the working atmosphere within the company. Unlike the image shown on screen of employees relaxing in the Bahamas, reality was different: many worked 16–18 hours a day for three years.

Wang also disagrees with the portrayal of Caroline Ellison. In the series, she appears as an aggressive personality, whereas in real life she was a quiet and gentle person. Moreover, most staff were unaware of the romance between Bankman-Fried and Ellison until the platform went bankrupt.

Constance Wang personally lost all funds held on FTX and took a long time to recover from the collapse. According to her, Netflix decided to turn a story that ruined countless lives into a love story, which she considers a disgrace for the streaming giant.
