Decline in Foreign Laptop Imports into Russia
Laptop imports from foreign manufacturers into Russia have dropped by 10% and continue to decline. The import of electronics from brands like Dell, HP, and Apple is decreasing due to stricter certification rules.
New regulations require each importer to independently obtain a conformity certificate for every batch of laptops. Previously, large distributors handled the documentation used by smaller suppliers.
Independent certification requires time and money, making it unprofitable to import less popular Western brand models. Instead, the market is being filled with more popular Chinese laptops.
Stricter rules have already led to a 3-4% price increase on imported equipment. In the future, costs may rise further due to the introduction of a technology levy.
