Fight Between Pilots Forces Emergency Landing of Flydubai Plane
A Flydubai aircraft, operating a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 174 passengers on board, sent a distress signal and made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Initial reports indicated a conflict between Russian and Ukrainian pilots, which led to the deployment of Israeli fighter jets for a possible interception.
Israeli authorities were prepared for a scenario involving a hijacking by terrorists; however, the investigation revealed a different cause for the incident.
The cause of the emergency landing was a fight between crew members directly inside the cockpit.
- The flight followed the Dubai — Tel Aviv route
- There were 174 passengers on board
- The plane made an unscheduled landing in Saudi Arabia
Upon clarifying the details of the incident, Israeli media refuted information regarding the nationality of those involved. It turned out that none of the pilots were citizens of Russia or Ukraine.
The crew consisted of pilots of other nationalities: one represented Oman, and the other represented the United Arab Emirates.
