Optimizing FB2 Libraries with the fb2opt Script

The fb2opt tool is designed to optimize files and libraries in FB2 format. The script allows you to significantly reduce data size without losing the quality of the original content.

Lossless compression proves its efficiency in practice: testing on a corpus of 60 books with a total volume of 32 MB showed a size reduction of 13.3%. The solution works without the need to install additional dependencies.

The --lossy mode uses the SSIM metric via FFmpeg to process scanned editions. This approach allows reducing the volume by up to 99%, shrinking the file from 1.5 MB to 10 KB, while not affecting already compressed images.
