EA Crisis: $18 Billion Debt and BioWare Closure

Electronic Arts is facing serious financial difficulties, having accumulated a debt of approximately $18 billion. The company is forced to revise its development strategy due to the failure of new projects.

The cause of the crisis was unsuccessful releases of new titles. As a result, BioWare studio, known for its legendary franchises, has been closed.

Now, old successful games are considered exclusively as "prestige projects" to maintain brand reputation. Their further development and support are not planned.

The main reason for the changes is the change in ownership. The Arab consortium that bought the company shifted focus to sports simulators and other monetizable products.

The new strategy aims to create stable revenue streams through "grind" formats, similar to the FIFA series. Single-player narrative games are no longer a priority for management.
