dYdX Announces v9.8 Update to Enhance Security

dYdX Update v9.8: Security Fixes and Launch Dates

The decentralized exchange protocol dYdX is preparing a major update to version 9.8, aimed at eliminating critical vulnerabilities. The initiative comes from the Operations subDAO, which officially presented a proposal for infrastructure modernization on October 7.

Due to the high sensitivity of changes in the field of cybersecurity, development was carried out in a private copy of the public repository. Developers plan to publish the source code on GitHub only after the successful implementation of the patch and a decision by dYdX Labs to disclose details.

Ready builds of v9.8.0 for the Linux operating system are already available along with checksums to verify file integrity. The preliminary launch of the update is scheduled for October 12 around 20:00 MSK.

  • Initially, block number 109,170,000 was targeted, but authors recommend verifying its height directly before submitting the proposal.
  • On October 8, during the discussion, Proposal No. 398 was registered.
  • For the network to transition to the new version, approval via the protocol governance mechanism is required.

The specified dates do not mean that the update has already been approved by voting or fully completed. The process requires mandatory passage of the token holder voting procedure to activate new security features.
