Data Leak of 18 Million Minecraft Players
A database containing information on 18 million Minecraft users has appeared on the dark web. The leak includes player usernames, email addresses, and password hashes.
Cybersecurity researchers analyzed a sample of approximately 1,000 records and confirmed the authenticity of part of the provided data. However, no signs of hacking official Mojang or Microsoft servers have been detected yet.
The information could have been collected from individual third-party Minecraft servers or obtained by merging previous leaks. The actual number of unique affected users has not yet been determined.
The stolen data poses a serious security threat: it can be used by attackers to organize phishing attacks and attempts to gain unauthorized access to other online services.
