Crypto company losses from hackers reach $766 million
Crypto companies suffered record losses in September 2026 due to a series of hacker attacks. According to the analytics platform PeckShield, the total damage reached $766.49 million.
This figure represents the highest indicator for the entire current year and shows a sharp increase compared to the previous month. In August, the damage amounted to only $136.3 million, meaning a loss increase of 462% in just one month.
A total of 55 major security incidents were recorded in September targeting infrastructure elements of the crypto industry. The largest single damage was caused by an attack on the Bitget exchange, which became the biggest exploit of the month.
