A shocking incident occurred in St. Petersburg when a courier for scammers was robbed almost immediately after he collected a large sum of money from an elderly woman.
The fraudsters convinced the 76-year-old pensioner to hand over the money for supposed "declaration and safekeeping." A 38-year-old woman came to collect the cash and took 3.125 million rubles out of the victim's apartment.
Almost immediately afterward, a man ran up to the woman with the money, pushed her from behind, and snatched the bag containing the cash. The victim herself went to the police, where it quickly became clear that she had just taken the money from the pensioner.
Police are now investigating two cases simultaneously: fraud and robbery. Two suspects in the robbery have already been detained.
