Costs for Claude Exceeded Anthropic Employee Salaries

Anthropic has disclosed financial data ahead of its upcoming IPO, providing insider information on its expense structure. It turned out that internal costs for using the Claude model exceeded employee salary expenses.

From January to September, the volume of internal Claude token usage within the company grew more than 250 times. If this consumption were recalculated at external user rates, spending would have already surpassed employee payouts (excluding stock options) by April.
