Anthropic's neural network shared data about death threats that a user left in a chat with Claude.
The dangerous incident occurred in Florida involving a 30-year-old local resident. The woman used the Claude service as a personal diary and wrote about her intention to stage a shooting at the sheriff's office.
The company's security system automatically flagged the alarming message. After verification by an Anthropic employee, the information was passed on to law enforcement agencies.
The next day, the young woman wrote that she had purchased a weapon and called the situation her last chance. The police arrived at the address, detained the woman, and opened a criminal case for written threat of violence.
This is already the third known case since August when correspondence with Claude, after internal moderation, reached the police.
