China tightens rules on importing German cars
China is tightening rules for importing cars from Germany, which will directly affect Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, and Mercedes brands. New export requirements could lead to sharp price increases or the complete disappearance of these brands from the market.
New conditions for car exports
- Manufacturers must confirm the presence of a network of foreign service centers in the country of import
- Lack of service infrastructure will become an obstacle to vehicle exports
The introduction of new rules may cause a surge in prices for German cars or make them unavailable to buyers. At risk are not only European brands but also some Chinese manufacturers, such as Zeekr and Xiaomi.
Changes in logistics and after-sales service will force consumers to reconsider their preferences in favor of more affordable alternatives, such as domestic models.
