Bill Gates Proposes Tax on AI Worker Replacement

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has proposed a tax on workplace automation. The proposal suggests that companies should pay taxes for using artificial intelligence and robots just as they would for full-time employees.

The logic behind the proposal is based on the need to maintain tax revenues amid mass replacement of workers by machines. Without such measures, job losses would lead to a rapid decline in budget income.

The collected funds are proposed to be directed to financing the US pension system and medical programs. Additionally, this money will be used to support citizens socially and fund retraining programs for workers whose professions have been displaced by automation.

Beyond its financial aspect, the tax could serve as a regulator for the pace of technology adoption. This would allow slowing down the overly rapid process of replacing human resources with neural networks and robotics.
