Apple Watch Connector: Connecting Apple Smartwatches to Android and PC
Developer LordixDemon has released the Apple Watch Connector utility on GitHub, enabling Apple smartwatches to connect to Android, Windows, and Linux devices. The project replicates iPhone-watch interaction protocols, ensuring pairing and encrypted connections.
The technical implementation involves traffic encryption via IPsec and a separate IDS layer for routing messages across watchOS services. Each function requires its own data handler.
- battery level display
- control of native watch faces
- receiving notifications, including forwarding from Android
- locating watches with a sound alert
Device pairing is done via code or by scanning an animation displayed on the watch screen. Saved pair data allows reconnections without repeating the full setup process.
Android operation requires root access and the Magisk module. On computers, the utility takes exclusive control of the Bluetooth adapter, disconnecting other devices in Linux during the session. The project has been tested on Windows 10 and Linux Mint 22.3.
macOS support remains incomplete: while the system detects the watches, the full pairing cycle is not yet ready. The solution helps overcome Apple's ecosystem restrictions, offering an alternative to using only with iPhones.
