AI Agent Detects Hidden Miner on Mac

A developer noticed abnormal overheating and lag on his Mac computer. Instead of standard diagnostic methods, he turned to the AI tool Claude Code to create specialized temperature monitoring.

Sensor data analysis revealed a hidden XMRig miner consuming massive system resources.

The program used up to 1175% of CPU power, equivalent to loading nearly 12 cores to the max. As a result, the chip temperature reached critical levels of 112 °C. The XMRig tool is widely known as a means for mining Monero (XMR) cryptocurrency.

Using artificial intelligence allowed not only to detect the malicious process but also to completely eliminate the threat.

The agent successfully stopped the miner's operation and deleted its auto-start mechanism at system startup. This prevented reinfection and returned normal performance to the computer.
