Igloo has decided to fully shut down the Abstract L2 blockchain and disconnect the network on December 15, 2026. The project will pivot to developing the Pudgy Penguins ecosystem, NFTs, and the PENGU token.
Main reasons for shutting down the project
- High operational costs for network maintenance
- Low liquidity and weak DeFi ecosystem
- Lack of interest from institutional investors
- Slowed growth and no path to profitability
Over two years, Igloo invested tens of millions of dollars into developing Abstract. Despite launching more than 144 applications and attracting over 400,000 users through partnerships with Red Bull Racing and Disney, a sustainable business model was never found.
All users must withdraw their assets before December 15 via the Migration Hub or official bridge. After the network is disabled, remaining funds will become inaccessible.
